The City is accepting applications for a part time Municipal Court position is responsible for maintaining order and providing assistance for court operations.
The Bailiff is a part-time position working in the Suwanee Municipal Court. Court sessions are typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays usually three (3) weeks out of the month. There are morning and afternoon sessions generally held on these days with each session lasting approximately two (2) hours.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains order in the courtroom during trial;
- Prevent disturbance of court proceedings
- Calls court to order when Judge enters room
- Prepares courtroom for scheduled hearings enforces courtroom rules of behavior
- Inspects public address system to ensure functionality
- Provides assistance to the Judge as needed
- Assists in the maintenance of courtroom supplies
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects
- The work is typically performed in an office or courtroom.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to read write and perform simple mathematical calculations
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position
- Ability to interact with citizens and members of the public verbally regarding court related matters
Compensation:
$75.00 per session; there are up to 12 sessions per month; 4 sessions are generally held per week three weeks out of the month.
