Job Description:

The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision $20000 free basic life insurance state-matched 156% retirement plan 13 paid holidays earned paid vacation and sick leave and more.

This classification level will act as a liaison and resource for the coordination of employment services for individuals on probation post-release supervision or problem-solving courts and will establish trusting collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of assisting individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment. Responsibilities may include: partnering with community stakeholders to solicit opportunities for individuals to obtain employment and developing individualized employment plans to ensure employment is sustainable; act as a liaison and resource for the coordination of employment services for the districts justice-involved individuals; establish collaborative relationships within the community directed toward the goal of assisting individuals in obtaining job training and employment; provide resource information to the district regarding employment availability for individuals. Assume responsibility for the daily operation of a specialized unit district field service division or satellite office under the direction of the Chief Probation Officer and/or Chief Deputy Probation Officer.


Job Duties

1. Anticipate barriers to reform and develop strategies to counter them. Work actively and collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to carry out the employment support mission. Participate in both local and statewide Employment Services Collaboratives and corresponding subcommittees coordinating and facilitating meetings providing information and guidance regarding Employment strategies and working to develop local policies and practices that achieve individuals employment goals.

2. Conducts analysis of provided services and research to identify and develop interventions best practices and services.

3. Engage community partners to develop services and resources designed to facilitate employment services for individuals.

4. Help monitor the progress of employment efforts. Document and track policies and practices implementation; evaluate whether the strategies implemented achieve the intended outcomes; prepare related reports; make appropriate recommendations and train and educate staff on employment services.

5. Coordinates with centers which provide intensive programs of education vocational training work experience counseling and other activities for justice-involved individuals.

6. Maintains appropriate documentation which supports compliance with federal state and local laws; collects and monitors data outcomes; prepares reports as necessary and oversees program evaluation.

7. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in the social sciences criminal justice or related fields AND three years experience working in a probation system or related organization including at least one year of experience in the areas of community planning service provider utilization grant writing or service and/or resource development.

Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in criminal justice or social/behavioral sciences.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Knowledge:

  • Leadership principles;
  • Applicable federal and state laws rules regulations policies programs and services;
  • Knowledge of issues concerning justice-involved individuals access to employment services; and brain development
  • Understanding of skill training fundamentals (identification process for teaching practicing skills)
  • Knowledge of Justice System;
  • Applicable practices and regulations for legal proceedings;
  • Computers and applicable software applications.

Skills:

  • Working with other employees and stakeholders;
  • Prioritizing and assigned work;
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws codes regulations and standards;
  • Planning coordinating monitoring and prioritizing resource development assignments;
  • Consulting and interacting with the court staff providers and other stakeholders;
  • Developing employment service plans analyzing assessment instruments matching service needs and funding options;
  • Developing and providing education to staff and other local state and national stakeholders;
  • Maintaining records and files;
  • Operating computers and applicable software applications;
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
