Under the supervision of the Radiology Manager the Assistant Manager Outpatient Imaging supports departmental operations including financial management human resources leadership quality assurance and operational objectives. This role assists with program development departmental performance improvement and may perform direct patient diagnostic procedures and education for patients families students and staff.
The Assistant Manager directly supervises Lead and Senior Technologists and indirectly oversees all technical staff in the department. This position collaborates closely with clerical staff nursing staff and service engineers while demonstrating organizational values and serving as a role model. The Assistant Manager is responsible for maintaining image quality and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
Manage daily staffing requirements to meet budget and productivity targets
Promote employee satisfaction support staff development and apply progressive discipline when necessary
Support departmental and organizational goals and decisions
Maintain high-quality patient-centered care and best practices
Participate in quality improvement processes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Monitor and evaluate departmental function and delivery of patient service
Report to leadership regarding patient care employee and physician satisfaction
Serve as liaison between patients families physicians and care teams to resolve issues
Translate professional and regulatory standards into departmental policies and procedures
Investigate interdepartmental issues take corrective action and promote respectful communication
Act as a departmental resource for education and technical expertise
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate imaging services
Maintain clinical competencies and technical skills for diagnostic procedures
Complete staff annual evaluations on time
Minimum Requirements:
5 years as a Diagnostic Technologist in an acute-care setting
2 years supervisory experience in an acute-care setting
Desired:
35 years prior supervisory/managerial experience
Associate Degree or higher
Minimum:
Current Radiologic Technology certificate or ARRT license
Current CPR certification
Desired:
Specialized certification (e.g. CRT NMTBC MRI etc.)
Knowledge of Joint Commission standards Title 17 & 22 ACR compliance and performance criteria
Thorough understanding of human anatomy patient care positioning radiographic exposure radiation physics radiobiology and specialized diagnostic techniques
Self-motivated with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated leadership ability with capacity to motivate delegate and analyze information
Ability to monitor evaluate and manage departmental resources and make informed recommendations
Capable of fulfilling essential clinical and managerial functions
