Coreshells metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity fast-charging and superior safety. Our low-cost liquid-phase nano-coating addresses critical electrode-surface degradation issues and enables batteries with a Silicon-dominant anode that have higher energy density superior intrinsic thermal safety and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current LIBs. Our Si anode material is lower than the cost of graphite and 100% domestically sourced. We strive to transform the global automotive market by enabling low-cost and long-range EVs as a first step towards net-zero sustainability in the near future.Core Responsibilities: We are seeking a motivated intern to support ongoing work in experimental diagnostics and analytical instrumentation. The role focuses on hands-on laboratory activities and contributes to the adaptation improvement and validation of custom experimental measurement systems used in electrochemical R&D.
This position is well suited for candidates who are comfortable working close to hardware enjoy understanding measurement systems at a system level and are interested in turning complex experimental outputs into quantitatively meaningful data.- Assist with the setup operation modification and adaptation of experimental and analytical equipment
- Contribute to improving and validating custom measurement setups to meet evolving experimental requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and scientists on experimental problem-solving and system-level improvements.
- Perform Coreshells in-house battery fabrication and testing.
- Participate in data acquisition processing and detailed experimental recordkeeping.
- Identify and correct sources of measurement error drift or system artifacts.
- Perform cell failure analysis through post-test cell disassembly followed by physical compositional and electrochemical characterization.
- Manage inventory of chemicals and lab consumables and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Execute manual tasks requiring high precision and dexterity.
Requirements:- Strong interest in hands-on experimental research and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with electrochemical characterization techniques and lithium-ion battery fabrication.
- Demonstrated ability to modify or adapt hardware/experimental setups.
- Familiarity with volume-based or gas-handling experimental systems (e.g. EC-MS) is a plus.
- Experience translating physical system behavior into quantitative data using Python MATLAB or similar tools.
- Ability to process experimental data and identify baseline drifts or artifacts.
- Familiarity with chemistry lab safety protocols and commitment to organized work areas.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
Location & Benefits: San Leandro CA. Full-time. Hourly rate is $26.00 - $40.00 per hour with additional stock incentives dependent on experience. Dental vision healthcare and 401(k) benefits are included. Applications will be screened as received. Required Experience:
