Job Summary

Location: Amityville NY
Shift: Monday 7am-3pm Wednesday-Saturday 3pm-11pm
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Overtime opportunities
Pay: $21.50-$22.50/hour hourly bilingual differential for Spanish/English new hires

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and teens Were looking for a dedicated Senior Residential Counselor to join our residential team at Hope For Youth in a non-secure youth detention this role youll support young people through challenging times help create a safe and structured environment and lead by example for both residents and staff on your shift.

To qualify for this job you need to be or have at minimum:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Valid NYS drivers license in good standing
  3. Ability to:
  • work flexible schedule
  • Lift/move up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Escort residents into the community and to appointments to service providers as needed
  • Physically restrain a child or youth during a crisis situation (TCI Training is provided with focus on de-escalation techniques)
  • Read/write reports and log entries repetitive wrist/finger movements
  • Operate a motor vehicle carrying up to 10 children and youth
  • Support other projects as needed within the Residential Department
  • Open to supervision and able to work as part of a team
  • Role model appropriately; nurture teach and structure daily living setting
  • Organize activities and engage youth throughout the shift
  • Support the overall mission of Hope For Youth
