Position Summary The On-Call Medical Provider is an essential member of a multidisciplinary team caring for individuals admitted to voluntary and involuntary inpatient withdrawal management and/ or involuntary psychiatric care. This position provides medical support for weekend holiday and overnight care.
In keeping with holistic and best practice care we are seeking providers who are willing to help initiate or continue Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for our clients with substance use disorders including suboxone. ARNP: 89.61
MD: 130.00 Essential Job Functions Provide timely telephone support to nursing staff regarding admissions discharges and medication orders. Provide initial medical evaluation to clients admitted to the Recovery Place Kent (RPK) and/or Recovery Place Seattle (RPS). Provide appropriate triage assessment and treatment for acute medical condition which may arise while an inpatient stay. Make decisions to transfer to most appropriate level of medical care as necessary. Coordinate with other team members at RPK/RPS regarding other recommended programming while admitted. Provide medical/clinical support to the nursing team as requested and coordinating with medical providers at RPK/RPS if clinically indicated. Utilize and/or oversee medication assisted treatment MAT including naltrexone and buprenorphine when appropriate. Order and interpret lab tests as appropriate. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of services provided in the electronic medical record. Maintain licensure board certification and continuing education as per community standards and state/federal requirements. Adhere to agency policies and procedures learn and adhere to Joint Commission federal state local requirements as is the agency standard. Be available for at least 3 shifts per month 1 being on a weekend. Work 1 major and 1 minor holiday per calendar year.
Minimum Qualifications M.D. D.O. or ARNP Graduation from an accredited school or program. Licensed to practice under state WAC and RCW. Board Certified or board-eligible if physician Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) if an ARNP Familiarity with best practices in addiction and substance use disorder treatment Familiarity with principles of harm reduction in substance use disorder treatment Pass required background checks. Have and maintain a BLS certificate
Other: Ability to work independently including making acute treatment decisions Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team Ability to utilize an electronic health record Possession of a DEA X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine is preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills High integrity/ethical standards Ability to establish positive respectful and collaborative professional relationships Flexibility team-orientation Strong work ethic
Working Conditions Direct nursing care requires the ability to lift push pull twist stoop lift up to 50lbs without assistance. Most work takes place in usual office working conditions where the noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones personal interruptions and background noises. Perform duties of a nurse as needed which will include exposure to hazardous materials (such as body fluids needle sticks). (This part requires update to match whatever the inpatient medical provider job description says.)
