ABOUT THE POSITION
The Chicago School is hiring a Director of Clinical Education to serve as a critical leader in assisting in developing and maintaining clinical trainingforIllinoisCOMstudents in the 3rdand 4thyears of medical education.TheDirectorrole offers a unique opportunity to lead the integration of clinical experiences and academic rigor ensuring the development of competentcompassionate and patient-centeredphysicians. Responsible for managing partner relationships overseeing clinical rotation quality and ensuring accreditation compliancethe Directorwill navigate affiliation agreements expand clinical rotation opportunities supervise administrative staff and develop educational programs for students. This pivotal role requires meticulous attention to detail tomaintaincurrent agreements and ensure alignment with clinical education goals. TheIllinoisCOMis located inChicago IL.Thisisinitiallyahybridrole but will shift tobeing in-personfull-timeatour Chicago campusbeginning April 1 2026.Travel to support clinicalsitedevelopment program management and accreditation activitiesisand can vary in frequencyastheseactivitiesvary throughout the year. The Director will report to theSeniorAssociate Dean of ClinicalAffairs.
PRINCIPLEDUTIES:
PartnerRelationshipsand Affiliation AgreementManagement
Support the Office of Clinical Affairs inmaintainingrelationships with hospital systems and clinical offices including meeting with hospital and other clinical site leadership.
Serve as the point of contact for the academic and legal teams at partner hospitals related to clinical affiliation agreement matters.
Ensureall affiliation agreements are current.
Ensure theIllinoisCOMseducational and administrative obligations topartnerhospitals/clinical sites areaccomplishedperestablishedaffiliation agreements.
Interface with partner hospitalsandclinical sites to ensure students meet onboarding requirementsbeforebeginningarotation.
Assist theSeniorAssociate Dean of ClinicalAffairsin coordinating collecting and documentingdata and information related tomeetingclinical educationaccreditationrequirements.
Visit affiliate hospitals andclinical sites to meet with studentsandacademic and administrative staff consistent withaccreditationrequirements.
Ensureproper credentialing of teaching staffat clinical sites.
Clinical RotationManagement and Quality Control
Work withaffiliated hospitals academic and administrative staff to expand rotations and create newopportunities for core clerkship and fourth-year students.
Serve as the point of contact with hospital systems or clinical offices considering orestablishingnew core or elective rotations.
Assistwith development and delivery ofeducational programs for preclinicalstudents to aid in their transition to clinicalrotations.
Ensure development and implementation of clinical education policies processescourse syllabiClinical Rotation Manual and other clinical education curricular documents.
Manageclinical rotations in LMSand other software as needed to ensure consistent communication of courseexpectationsacross clinical rotationsmaintainclinical rotation schedulesensuretimelysubmission of course gradesand other clinical education curricular requirements.
Support student experiences during both the transition to clinical rotations and completion of 3rdand 4thyear curricular requirements. This includes but is not limited to visiting clinical training sites and serving as a point of contact for studentsregardingclinical education questions and concerns.
Operational Support andClinical SiteManagement
Support SeniorAssoicateDean of Clinical Affairs in developing implementingandmaintainingclinical education strategic initiativesandprograms.
Superviseadministrative staff in the Department of ClinicalEducation.
Ensure clinical education data and narratives to support accreditation requirementsare maintained and completed in a timely manner.
Manage implementation of clinical education activities andensure efficient workflow.
Support clinical sites in recruitment preceptors.
Ensure developmentand implementationofclinical site faculty and staffonboardingand development and recognition programs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degreeinarelatedfield
Five (5) years of experience in clinical education at an LCME orCOCA-accreditedmedical school.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree or abovein a related field
Experience with diverse populations awareness of ones attitudes beliefs biases and assumptions about othersand a record of respect and openness towards people whose social and cultural background is different from ones own.
The ability to create an inclusiveequitable and welcoming environment within thecollege.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Exceptionalskillat analyzing a situation distilling a problem providing feedback and designing and implementing effective solutions that support an organizations overall mission and strategic mission.
Exceptional time management critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
