Job Summary

MISSION: To survey adjust repair install modify debug and maintain control systems and electrical systems and equipment for production equipment and facilities; to provide technical assistance on equipment and facilities projects. To complete projects in accordance with city state and national electrical codes customer and PCC specifications.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Objective: to maintain calibrate design install and debug control systems for all machines and equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Regularly surveys plant equipment controls and instrumentation calibrates
installs debugs repairs and/or adjusts as necessary to meet process control
specifications.
B. Fabricates recertifies and installs thermocouples.

2. Electrical
Objective: to maintain install repair and adjust electrical systems and equipment that provide power to production equipment and facilities.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Troubleshoots electrical malfunctions using electrical test instruments.
B. Installs and maintains control panels motors motor controllers
transformers wiring switches alarm systems and other equipment.
C. Programs installs troubleshoots and maintains programmable controllers.

3. Projects and Technical Assistance
Objective: to plan and design instrumentation/electrical projects and provide assistance on technical issues.
Essential Job Functions
A. Plans and designs complex installations.
B. Provides technical assistance for the selection of new equipment.
C. Assists others including maintenance coordinators and engineers with planning and technical issues.

4. Safety
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
Essential Job Functions:

NOTE: for job positions that require respiratory protection (more than a filtering face piece dust mask):

In compliance with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division Personal Protective Equipment standard for Respiratory Protection OAR 437 Div. 2/I 1910.134 and Oregon Health Division Rules for the Control of Radiation OAR 333. Div. 120 (through 330) certain tasks within this job position require/may require the use of a NIOSH-approved respirator. An individual will not be assigned to these tasks if the person is not able to work under these conditions. Respirator selection will be based on the work performed exposure information duration of use and any other relevant factors. If a tight-fitting respirator is required facial hair temple pieces on glasses or other items that interferes with the face-to-face piece seal of the respirator are not permitted.


A. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
B. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
C. Identifies and reports safety problems corrects when possible.
D. May be required to handle hazardous waste.

5. Completes logs and records.
6. Provides work direction training and working supervision as assigned.

OTHER (MARGINAL) ACCOUNTABILITIES
7. Performs other tasks as directed.
8. May be required to participate in Hazardous Materials Spill Response team.

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT VEHICLES TOOLS AND/OR MACHINERY USED:
1. Electrical Test Equipment (e.g. ampmeters oscilloscopes voltmeters ohmmeters etc.)
2. Instrumentation test equipment (e.g. calibrators recorders digital voltmeter rpm & flow gauges dead weight testers & oxygen analyzers etc.)
3. Pumps
4. Motors
5. Forklift
6. PCC vehicles
7. Pager and 2-way radios
8. Hand power tools
9. Solder gun
10. Basic hand tools (e.g. wrenches pliers screwdrivers etc.)

TRAINING
1. Hazardous Materials Handling Training may be required.
2. PCCs Forklift Driving Safety Certification must be completed. (SSBO & LSBO only)
3. On-going state electrical licensing courses must be completed.
4. May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

QUALIFICATIONS
electrical and instrumentation skills as demonstrated by four
years competent performance of all Electrical Technician duties.
AND
Completion of a four-year electrical apprenticeship program is preferred
AND
Completion of a two-year electronics training program
OR
An equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
2. A valid Oregon State Manufacturing Journeyman Plant Electricians License (or
higher level license).
3. Valid drivers license in order to drive PCC vehicles.
4. Ability to apply city state and national electrical codes.
5. Ability to distinguish between all colors.
6. Ability to read interpret and follow specifications on complex blueprints
drawings Quality Control Manuals Process Control Procedures and other
technical manuals and specifications.
7. Ability to assist other departments through planning and technical assistance
processes.
8. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition subtraction
multiplication division) with a working knowledge of algebra preferred.
9. Ability to work independently and in a team with limited supervision.
