Job Summary
Reporting to the Regional Market Leader/President the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership team who actively partners with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to organize direct evaluate and integrate the delivery of patient care and clinical collaboration with the System Leadership the CNO has authority and accountability for delivery of services by assigned departments including support of community strategies designed to integrate interventions across the healthcare continuum. Through collaboration with clinical system and physician leadership strives for seamlessness and efficiency in delivering care. Key activities include best practice delivery program planning operational analysis financial analysis problem resolution personnel management and process improvement. Serves as the lead for their regional site for all nursing practice and coordinates strategy with other regional leaders.
Essential Functions
- Develops an operational plan for the provision of patient care services congruent with Spectrum Healths mission best clinical practice standards fiscal responsibility to the consumer and meeting regulatory requirements.
- Directs a team in the development and implementation of systems to deliver patient care services that balance patient experience safety quality access to services and cost.
- Promotes staff development through orientation training and continuing education programs and services that support an environment of professional/personal growth and development throughout employment.
- Actively represents Spectrum Health in the community. Develops and maintains excellent community relationships and engages in community affairs/events/groups. Establishes effective working relationships addresses concerns and promotes a positive image of SH.
- Leads the accreditation preparation process to ensure successful accreditation and compliance with various agencies standards and regulations on an ongoing basis.
- Member of the executive team. Participates in board meetings. Active participant in strategic planning and service development for the organization. Engages to develop core strategies initiatives and alignment with the organizational priorities to support Spectrum Healths mission vision and values.
- Develops systems to recruit select and retain qualified care providers to measure practice standards and to establish and monitor standard of care.
- Identifies and evaluates trends in healthcare local condition economic condition and collaborative institutions and shares this information with the executive team hospital leaders Chief Nurse Executive and the board.
Qualifications
Required
- Masters Degree in Nursing. If Masters degree is not in Nursing must possess a BSN with a Masters in related field.
- 3 years of relevant leadership experience
- Previous experience in nursing administration
- Experience managing large cross functional teams and/or projects as well as influencing leaders and key stakeholders.
- LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATEMI State of Michigan Upon Hire
Preferred
- Nursing leadership certification and/or FACHE certification
