We are seeking a passionate experienced and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Caterham starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality Key Stage 1 lessons and supporting pupils as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage to formal learning.

As a Year 1 Teacher you will plan deliver and assess engaging lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will foster independence resilience and positive learning behaviours while supporting pupils individual needs. Your role will also involve working closely with teaching assistants monitoring pupil progress and maintaining clear and accurate assessment records.
Key Responsibilities
Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
Deliver effective literacy numeracy and foundation subject lessons
Support pupils transitioning from EYFS to Key Stage 1
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL learners
Promote independence resilience and positive learning behaviours
Maintain a structured inclusive and positive classroom environment
Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and colleagues
Build positive relationships with parents and carers providing regular feedback
Contribute to staff meetings CPD sessions and whole-school initiatives
Ensure safeguarding policies are adhered to at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching Key Stage 1 ideally Year 1
Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective proactive and adaptable
Show a strong commitment to inclusion safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Work collaboratively as part of a supportive professional team
