Year 1 Teacher – Coventry

We are seeking a passionate enthusiastic and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Coventry starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys Key Stage 1 and wants to deliver high-quality lessons that engage and challenge pupils while fostering a love of learning.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos valuing collaboration between staff pupils and families. Leadership is supportive and approachable providing mentoring professional development opportunities and clear guidance to ensure both staff and pupils succeed.

The Role

As a Year 1 Teacher you will plan deliver and assess lessons across all areas of the national curriculum. You will support pupils in developing literacy numeracy and wider skills while encouraging independence resilience and positive learning behaviours.

You will work closely with teaching assistants Key Stage 1 colleagues and senior leaders to maintain high standards and consistency across the year group. Effective communication with parents and carers is a key part of the role to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum

• Track pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs

• Differentiate learning to support all pupils including SEND and EAL learners

• Promote independence resilience and positive learning behaviours

• Maintain a structured and inclusive classroom environment

• Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues

• Communicate effectively with parents and carers

• Participate in staff meetings CPD and school initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Have experience teaching Key Stage 1 ideally Year 1

• Be confident delivering literacy numeracy and foundation subjects

• Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

• Be reflective proactive and adaptable

• Show a strong commitment to inclusion and safeguarding

• Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
