Job Summary
Position Summary
The Director of Laboratory provides department services to meet the needs of patients performed in compliance with all applicable regulations standards and practices. Directs manages and coordinates functions and activities in all departments. Plans organizes and directs activities of staff in departments to ensure prompt efficient accurate and cost-effective delivery of information and services. Ensures the delivery of quality services which meet the standards of practice established policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations. Coordinates a wide variety of administrative fiscal and technical activities to ensure efficient operations of all services directed. Adheres to the legal responsibilities and scope of practice as written by the Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel State of Florida. The Department Director s role subsumes all aspects of the Laboratory Supervisor s role.
EDUCATION
- Minimum: Education and/or experience combination recognized by Florida for a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum five (5) years Supervisory or Management experience in an acute care hospitals laboratory.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Current or eligible Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in minimum of three (3) of the following: Microbiology Serology Clinical Chemistry Hematology and Immunohematology.
- Preferred: ASCP National Certification as a Medical Technologist.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Effective leadership and coaching skills necessary to lead others in a dynamic healthcare environment.
