Job Summary: The MS/Tele Float Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care across multiple inpatient units supporting medical-surgical progressive care and rehabilitation patients. This role requires strong clinical judgment adaptability and the ability to deliver safe high-quality care in a fast-paced float environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver direct patient care to adult medical-surgical telemetry PCU and inpatient rehab patients.
Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor patient responses to treatments and medications.
Administer IV therapies and manage continuous drips per protocol.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Prioritize patient safety and respond effectively to clinical changes and emergencies.
May assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Float assignment required across MS 4 Pav MS 5 Pratt PCU and Acute Inpatient Rehab (Ortho/Neuro)
PCU experience Highly Preferred
Meditech EMR experience Required
At least one completed travel assignment Required
First-time travelers will NOT be considered
Must live 100 miles from facility
Weekend holiday and call coverage required
Experience caring for patients with diagnoses including sepsis COPD CHF post-operative care plastics and ALC patients
Experience managing heparin drips magnesium and potassium infusions
Strong leadership delegation and critical-thinking skills
Ability to function effectively in high-stress clinical environments
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
License: Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License Required
