Job Summary

Role Overview

We are seeking a Database Technical Lead with advanced expertise in PostgreSQL and MongoDB strong hands-on database administration skills and deep experience managing cloud-native databases on AWS.

The ideal candidate will lead database architecture performance optimization and migration initiatives while remaining hands-on with day-to-day database engineering and administration.

This role requires a strong understanding of high availability global databases automation and infrastructure as code in complex enterprise environments.

Must-Have Requirements

Advanced hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
Strong expertise in database architecture design optimization and administration
Deep understanding of:
- Query planning & optimization
- Indexing strategies
- Partitioning
- Replication & high availability
Extensive AWS experience including:
- Database management & monitoring
- High availability & global databases
- Disaster recovery strategies
Experience with AWS automation tools:
- CloudFormation
- Terraform
Ability to act as a Technical Lead guiding architecture decisions and mentoring team members

Key Responsibilities

Database Architecture & Engineering

Design develop implement and maintain PostgreSQL and MongoDB database systems to support business needs.
Define and enforce best practices for:
- Database design & normalization
- Data integrity
- Performance optimization
Deploy and manage PostgreSQL and MongoDB clusters with a focus on:
- High availability
- Scalability
- Global database architectures
Implement cost and performance optimization strategies across environments.

Database Administration & Operations

Monitor and tune database performance including:
- Query optimization
- Resource allocation
Perform and manage:
- Backups and recovery
- Security controls and access management
- Compliance and regulatory requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in production environments.

AWS & Automation

Manage and monitor databases within the AWS ecosystem.
Leverage AWS services and monitoring tools to ensure database reliability and performance.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using:
- CloudFormation
- Terraform
Support automation initiatives for database provisioning scaling and monitoring.

Migration Leadership

Lead end-to-end database migration projects including:
- Migration planning and execution
- Data validation and integrity checks
- Post-migration performance tuning
Ensure minimal downtime and smooth cutover during migrations.
Support modernization initiatives from legacy systems to cloud-native platforms.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

Act as a technical mentor to junior DBAs and database engineers.
Collaborate with application infrastructure and DevOps teams to align database strategies with business goals.
Document:
- Database designs
- Operational procedures
- Best practices and standards

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in computer science IT or related field
8 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
2 years in a Technical Lead or Senior DBA role
Strong expertise in:
- Query optimization
- Indexing & partitioning
- Replication & HA
Extensive AWS experience:
- Database monitoring & management
- High availability & disaster recovery
Hands-on experience with CloudFormation and Terraform
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Proven success leading database migration projects

Preferred Qualifications

PostgreSQL MongoDB or AWS certifications
Experience migrating legacy databases to cloud-native architectures
Knowledge of additional AWS services:
- EC2 S3 Lambda
Experience with:
- Database automation
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
