Engineering Lead (Banking Platform & Cloud Modernization)

Were looking for experience lead engineer based in Long Beach CA looking for a hands-on role to stabilize and support our existing on-prem Microsoft platform while driving the modernization and build-out of secure cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure. This role blends delivery leadership technical depth and strong operational discipline in a regulated environment.

• Architect develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications React/ and Azure (Python a plus).
• Lead technical decision-making and provide expertise on best practices architecture and modern software development methodologies.
• Conduct code reviews ensuring high code quality security performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners (product design security operations) to define design and ship new capabilities safely.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers fostering a culture of growth and technical excellence.
• Support production systems through incident response (triage containment root cause analysis) and continuous improvements.
• Monitor and improve application performance optimizing database queries front-end rendering and API interactions.
• Ensure security best practices including authentication authorization secrets management and data protection.
• Work with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments with strong environment discipline (dev/test/uat/prod).
• Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for adoption where appropriate in a banking context.

• .NET / C# experience with ability to debug production issues safely
• SQL Server fundamentals (query tuning indexing awareness safe performance fixes)
• Windows Server IIS hosting (deployments certificates configuration)
• Identity fundamentals (Active Directory service accounts group policy realities)
• Comfortable with change control release windows and production-first engineering practices
• Monitoring/logging discipline (audit-friendly logs tracing metrics)

• Experience designing and delivering solutions on Azure
• Azure core services: App Service Functions Storage Key Vault (AKS optional)
• Networking basics: VNets Private Endpoints DNS firewall concepts
• Hybrid connectivity awareness (VPN/ExpressRoute concepts)
• Identity and access: Entra ID (Azure AD) RBAC Managed Identities
• Resiliency patterns: health checks retries timeouts failure isolation

• CI/CD using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
• Infrastructure as Code: Bicep or Terraform
• Automated deployments with clear environment separation (dev/test/uat/prod)
• Security gates: SAST dependency scanning artifact integrity secrets handling

• Build cloud-ready APIs (12-factor configuration clean layering safe deployments)
• Event-driven integration patterns (Service Bus / Event Grid concepts)
• Design for observability (Application Insights structured logging traceability)
• Data modernization awareness (managed SQL options caching read scaling)

• React TypeScript experience (Material UI Tailwind)
• / Express TypeScript experience
• PostgreSQL experience
• Banking / regulated industry experience (audit expectations SDLC controls)

This role is based in Long Beach CA with a hybrid expectation (on-site 3 days a week).
