Senior Power BI Developer

Location: Washington DC Metro Area (Hybrid 3 Days Onsite / Week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer with strong expertise in Power BI DAX and data modeling to support enterprise-level reporting and analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders data engineers and leadership teams to deliver high-impact dashboards and insights.

This role requires local candidates in the DC Metro area who can work onsite 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for enterprise users
Write advanced DAX calculations measures KPIs and time-intelligence logic
Build and optimize data models (star/snowflake schemas) for performance and scalability
Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL Server Azure APIs Excel SharePoint etc.)
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into visual analytics
Optimize Power BI performance (query folding aggregation tables incremental refresh)
Implement row-level security (RLS) and data governance best practices
Support deployment refresh schedules and Power BI Service administration
Document solutions and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

5 years of experience in BI / data visualization roles
Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service)
Expert-level DAX (complex measures calculated tables optimization)
Strong experience with SQL (writing complex queries performance tuning)
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts
Experience working with large datasets and enterprise reporting environments
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

Experience with Azure Synapse Azure SQL or Data Factory
Power BI Premium / Fabric experience
Experience in government healthcare or regulated environments
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery models
