Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs clerical communication and other related duties to facilitate the efficient functioning of department services. All duties are performed in collaboration with team members adhering to standards outlined in the competency-based evaluation tool. The CNA participates in and accepts responsibility for functions delegated to the team demonstrating a commitment to quality service for patients the public and co-workers.

Responsibilities:

- Assists patients in routine activities of daily living including range of motion ambulation positioning skin care linen changes feeding hygiene toileting and incontinent care.
- Assists the patient care team in collecting patient data and specimens including urine stool and sputum.
- Obtains and records weights vital signs pulse oximetry pain assessments and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Assists the patient care team by performing and explaining designated patient care procedures such as incentive spirometry and patient transport.
- Prepares rooms provides post-mortem care and assists with admissions and discharges.
- Assists nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs suctioning (oral nasopharyngeal) and blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department-specific responsibility).
- Answers unit phones and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs and notifies the appropriate department of equipment malfunctions.
- Performs other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification

Special Considerations:

- Mandatory float facility; resources are required to float at the facilitys discretion.
Scheduling:
- 3x12s 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend / 2 weekends per month
- No block scheduling
