Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse will work in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center providing care in a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department setting. The role involves managing patients with a variety of conditions including trauma neurological issues and medical emergencies. The nurse will be responsible for administering medications managing lines and collaborating with the healthcare team to provide optimal patient care.
Location:Potsdam New York United States
Responsibilities:
- Provide care for patients in a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department.
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
- Administer blood products.
- Perform central line care and management.
- Perform phlebotomy and start IVs.
- Administer continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors.
- Manage patients with CVA neuro-trauma spinal cord injury traumatic brain injury and ortho-trauma.
- Provide care for patients with abdominal pain asthma burns epiglottitis head injury hyperglycemia infections mental/behavioral health conditions respiratory infections seizures spinal cord injury and urinary tract infections.
- Manage ventilated patients.
- Provide care for patients with gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
- Identify and report abuse.
- Document patient care using EPIC.
- Utilize Pyxis for medication management.
- Communicate using SBAR.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification.
- NIHSS certification.
- PALS certification.
- TNCC certification.
- Experience in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center.
- Skills in General Emergency Department-Combined Adult/Pedi Non Trauma Emergency Department.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- CPI certification.
- TCAR certification.
Special Considerations:
- Must be located more than 50 miles from the facility.
- Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends of a 4-week posted schedule).
