Job Summary

Job Title: Website Developer (Drupal) Project Summary

The Website Developer supports the National Science Foundations (NSF) public-facing and internal web platforms by developing maintaining and enhancing web content using Drupal and other federal web technologies. This role contributes to the delivery of accessible high-performing and user-centered digital experiences that support NSFs mission programs and communications objectives.

This position supports a federal government contract and works closely with web publishers UX designers and technical teams to ensure NSF web properties meet federal standards usability expectations and security requirements.

Role Summary

The Website Developer is responsible for building updating and optimizing Drupal-based websites implementing front-end functionality and resolving technical issues related to content publishing and performance. The role requires strong technical skills attention to detail and experience supporting federal agency websites in compliance with accessibility and usability standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop configure and modify Drupal web components templates and page layouts.
  • Use Drupal components and Layout Builder to design and maintain webpages.
  • Implement and maintain front-end functionality using HTML CSS and JavaScript.
  • Support content publishing workflows and provide technical troubleshooting assistance.
  • Optimize website performance usability and user experience.
  • Ensure all web products comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements and WCAG standards.
  • Apply the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) to ensure consistency with federal design standards.
  • Collaborate with UX designers web publishers and content owners to implement approved designs and enhancements.
  • Support issue tracking and resolution using ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
  • Five (5) or more years of professional web development and web design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML CSS and JavaScript.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working within Drupal environments including use of components and Layout Builder to design webpages.
  • Demonstrated experience using the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
  • Experience supporting websites for U.S. federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ticketing workflows or similar issue-tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting high-traffic content-rich websites in a government or research environment.
  • Knowledge of federal web governance content lifecycle management and accessibility best practices.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including designers editors and technical staff.
Work Location and Schedule
  • Place of Performance: Primarily on-site at NSF Headquarters in Alexandria VA with potential for limited telework as approved by the Contracting Officers Representative (COR).
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday standard business hours.
Security Requirement
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
