Through daily prayer the regular celebration of the Eucharist abundant opportunities for Reconciliation the availability of a priest-chaplain and campus minister for spiritual counsel the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in our school chapel retreat days for both our students and faculty a peer ministry program that forms seniors as role models in the faith and the solid formation in Catholic doctrineaccording to the framework proposed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishopsoffered by our theology faculty Prout promotes that encounter as the ultimate goal for all of its educational athletic artistic and community-building pursuits. Inspired by the example of Mother Mary Joseph Prout the foundress of the Sisters of the Cross and Passion and our patroness our charism is further enriched by her four-fold legacy: (1) the identification of the suffering Christ with our suffering brothers and sisters in need; (2) the promotion and safeguarding of human dignity; (3) Christian charity expressed in concrete acts of service; (4) educational excellence especially for those who might not otherwise have access to quality intellectual formation. We seek a candidate who enjoys secondary education and who can teach a variety of ELA courses especially for the 10th grade. The ideal teacher will create a rich learning environment employ varied teaching approaches and use multiple tools to assess student understanding and competencies. The teacher will have the ability to work collaboratively with other ELA teachers will be able to employ differentiated instructional methods in developing and delivering effective lessons (to include competency in online instruction) to a diverse group of learners. Enthusiasm for classroom innovation and ability to devise a variety of educational experiences is valued at The Prout School: use of inquiry-based instructional methods use of dynamic assessment tools class discussions group projects to deepen student understanding. Flexibility humor and willingness to work with students inside and outside the class are valued. The teacher will have preference for a faith-based Catholic values-based curriculum and a proactive orientation to seek parent input and counsel to effectively advance student success. Duties and responsibilities include: Lesson plans for course on file. Preparation and implementation of daily lessons. Delivery of assignments and timely evaluation of all relevant class work and student and implementation of appropriate authentic assessments and support of individual student learning styles. Timely and proactive communication with parents about student with other members of faculty administration and staff on experiential interdisciplinary and community-based opportunities that add to the school community. Willingness to adapt and change instructional approaches based on peer and supervisory suggestions and recommendations. Participation in school sponsored curricular and extra-curricular activities on and off campus. Effective and timely communication with varied school constituencies in person and through various electronic forms of for divisional and school-wide initiatives through committee work where and/or participation in non-academic activities including lunch and study hall as appropriate Required and preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate should have successfully completed (or have significant coursework in) a Bachelors or Masters degree program in Literature or related studies . Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred however candidates with less experience may be considered depending on background. The successful candidate will also possess a positive attitude excellent written and verbal skills strong organizational skills and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration cooperation and collegiality. Ability to lead one or more co-curricular activities is desirable. Candidate will have to pass a Criminal Background Check as overseen through the Diocese Office for Compliance.
