Position Overview

The Excavator Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment in support of underground utility powerline and substation construction projects. This Excavator Operator role requires strong attention to safety teamwork and the ability to follow project plans and specifications. The Excavator Operator plays a key part in ensuring projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards.

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience in utility or powerline environments
Knowledge of underground utility systems electrical infrastructure and foundation work
Valid drivers license required (CDL preferred)
Ability to read and understand construction plans and utility locates
Strong understanding of job site safety and OSHA standards
Reliable team-oriented with strong communication skills

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment including excavators backhoes trenchers and skid steers
Perform excavation and installation of underground utilities and conduit systems
Support powerline and substation construction activities
Assist with concrete foundation preparation and installation
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform routine maintenance
Follow OSHA regulations company safety policies and project specifications
Read and interpret construction plans blueprints and utility maps
Work closely with crew members and supervisors to meet project deadlines
