As a Lead Data Scientist at Evergen your responsibilities will include the following:
- Design and Implementation of Optimisation Models: Execute complex data modelling statistical analysis and machine learning projects to improve the efficiency of renewable energy systems ensuring alignment with project goals and organisational objectives.
- Data Quality and Integrity: Ensure the accuracy reliability and quality of datasets used in modelling and analytics maintaining high standards for data handling and processing.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Ensure implemented solutions produce expected results and communicate results insights and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in data science and renewable energy to propose and implement innovative solutions. Define what best practice means at Evergen and help foster a culture of excellence
- Collaboration with Teams and Stakeholders: Work closely with technical and business leads to align technical solutions with broader business strategies and customer needs and help mentor other data scientists within your team
- Compliance and Sustainability Goals: Ensure all optimisation strategies and implementations comply with regulatory requirements and contribute toward the organisations sustainability objectives.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment and contribute to continual improvement in quality and performance at Evergen by complying with all relevant policies and procedures (Include this is mandatory accountability for all staff)
Qualifications :
- 5 years of data science experience including 2 years leadership experience
- Bachelors Masters or Ph.D. in: Computer Science Data Science Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering (with a focus on data systems or signal processing) Physics (with a computational focus) Applied Mathematics and Statistics or similar
- Optimisation Knowledge: Hands-on experience implementing linear and mixed-integer linear optimisation in production environments including familiarity with solvers (e.g. Gurobi CPLEX OR-Tools). Understanding of model predictive control principles
- Machine Learning: Strong foundations in time-series forecasting with practical experience in supervised/unsupervised learning
- Software development: Experience with Python RESTful APIs (FastAPI) and Test Driven Development. Familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch Scikit-learn)
- Leadership: Proven track record of building and mentoring data science teams with strong coaching and communication skills
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate insights and collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers product managers and stakeholders
- Ways of Working: Familiarity with Git JIRA and Agile methodologies
Bonus Skills
- Big Data & Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) distributed computing tools (Spark Hadoop) and data storage solutions
- Data Engineering: Proficient with SQL data pipelines and ETL processes
- Domain Knowledge: Understanding of load and PV forecasting energy market operation electrical systems and/or consumer energy resources
