Job Summary
About the Role
AECOM is looking for a talented and driven Jr. Data Scientist to join our AI & ML team. This role focuses on developing and deploying advanced solutions in Natural Language Processing (NLP) Computer Vision and Deep Learning with applications in video recognition but also time-series analysis. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and cloud platforms to build scalable intelligent systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design implement and optimize ML models using Python and deep learning frameworks.
- Develop and fine-tune LLMs and advanced NLP algorithms for various language understanding tasks.
- Build and deploy video recognition and computer vision models using state-of-the-art techniques.
- Apply time-series algorithms for forecasting anomaly detection and pattern recognition.
- Optimize model performance and scalability for production environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into products and services.
- Leverage cloud platforms (Azure GCP AWS) for model training deployment and monitoring.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree 4 years of experience in data science machine learning or AI roles.
- Strong proficiency in Python and ML/DL libraries such as PyTorch TF scikit-learn and Hugging Face Transformers.
- Hands-on experience with advanced NLP techniques including:
- Named Entity Recognition (NER)
- Text classification and sentiment analysis
- Topic modeling (e.g. LDA BERTopic)
- Text summarization (extractive and abstractive)
- Question answering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Embedding techniques (e.g. Word2Vec BERT Sentence Transformers)
- Prompt engineering and fine-tuning of LLMs
- Solid understanding of computer vision and video processing (e.g. OpenCV MediaPipe YOLO or similar).
- Experience with deep learning model optimization and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with time-series modeling techniques (e.g. ARIMA LSTM Prophet).
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (Azure GCP AWS) and ML Ops tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with pipeline and database optimization for large-scale data of multimodal learning or video-language models.
- Contributions to open-source projects or relevant research publications.
- Experience with real-time video analytics or edge AI deployment.
