We are recruiting to a Lecturer (Level B) / Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Clinical Education (Public Health). This is a part-time (0.5FTE / 50%) continuing role primarily based at the Gold Coast campus of Griffith University.
A Lecturer (Teaching Focused) in Clinical Education is expected to make informed contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly and/or professional activities relevant to the discipline of medicine. At Level B a Teaching Focused Lecturer is expected to perform the full academic responsibilities and related administration in support of the development coordination and delivery of courses in the Doctor of Medicine.
The Senior Lecturer (Teaching Focused) in Clinical Education is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and play a major role in scholarship research and/or professional activities. The Senior Lecturer is expected to make independent and original contributions to research which have significant impact on the field of expertise.
This position offers a unique opportunity for a practicing public health physician or a public health qualified academic to develop an interest and gain skills in medical education. The role forms part of an academic team that oversees the learning and assessment of medical students in general practice settings and contributes to delivery of relevant aspects of the curriculum in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program which encompasses public health epidemiology evidence-based medicine and primary health care.
This position aims to ensure and verify that students in the MD acquire the understanding and skills related to the specialty of public health required of an Australian medical graduate. It also contributes to curriculum development delivery and assessment relevant to their area of expertise.
Level of appointment will be dependant upon the academic clinical and professional experience and qualifications of the preferred candidate.
While the role is primarily based at the Gold Coast campus Griffith University is a multi-campus (site) institution and there may be a requirement for the successful candidate to attend other campuses (sites) where the medical program is delivered.
Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary will be Academic Lecturer (Level B) range $113226 - $134460 per annum 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $132474 - $157318 per annum.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be Academic Senior Lecturer (Level C) range $138702 - $159936 per annum 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $162281 - $187125 per annum.
Qualifications :
To be considered for this vacancy candidates must:
Level B:
- Possess a medical degree from a recognised educational institution that is Ahpra registrable.
- Demonstrate expertise and experience in teaching in a medical health or public health program.
- Hold a masters level qualification in public health (e.g. MPH); and/or a PhD or equivalent (or substantial progress towards completion of a PhD); and/or a professional fellowship in public health or community medicine.
Level C:
- Possess a medical degree from a recognised educational institution that is Ahpra registrable.
- Hold a doctoral or masters level qualification of equivalent accreditation and standing (e.g. MPH PhD); and/or a Professional Fellowship (or substantial progress towards completion of a PhD or Fellowship) in public health or community medicine.
- Demonstrate expertise and experience in teaching in a medical health or public health program.
- Demonstrate their experience in leading and managing courses / modules and assessment within an MD curriculum is desirable.
