Position Summary

This position is responsible for the general maintenance of the grounds at the properties maintained by Historic Tours of America. You are to ensure that the image of the company is reflected in the appearance of our facilities while maintaining our companys high standards of safety and cleanliness.

Requirements:

Essential Functions

• Prune or trim trees shrubs or hedges using shears or clippers per established guidelines.
• Water lawns trees or plants using an irrigation system water hoses or watering cans as per scheduled guidelines.
• Care for established lawns by mulching weeding raking removing palm fronds or trimming or edgings around flower beds walks or walls.
• Mow or edge lawns using power mowers edgers or weed trimmers.
• Keep driveways and sidewalks free and clear of debris

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• High degrees of self-motivation and the ability to work independently and as a team member over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
• Ability to determine the type of tool and equipment needed to do a job.
• Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying taking the time to understand the points being made asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Ability to deal with unpleasant angry or discourteous people in a pleasant calm courteous manner.
• Ability to read write and speak clear English to communicate with co-workers and the general public.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• 1-3 years of groundskeeping experience
• Basic plant identification

Other Requirements

• Valid FL Drivers License with acceptable driving record for past three years
• Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing
