SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT GOA EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Location: Edmonton AB (Onsite during training then Remote)
Type: Contract Full-Time
Hours: MondayFriday 8:15 AM 4:30 PM (1-hour lunch)
Contract Term: Up to 12 months
About the Opportunity
Our client the Government of Alberta is seeking experienced Senior Administrative Assistants to support the administration of provincial child care grant funding programs. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accountability assessing grant eligibility and supporting compliance with applicable legislation policies and program guidelines. Training will be conducted onsite in Edmonton with the position transitioning to remote work following successful completion of training.
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH THE GOA WITHIN THE CHILDCARE/EDUCATION MINISTRY.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess evaluate and recommend grant funding for licensed child care programs under provincial child care grant initiatives
- Determine eligibility and ensure grant recipients meet all funding conditions legislation and Ministerial policy requirements
- Communicate funding decisions and compliance requirements clearly and professionally to grant recipients
- Identify service delivery funding or payment issues and provide recommendations for resolution to management
- Manage and respond to grant-related complaints from child care providers early childhood educators and Alberta families
- Review complaints request and analyze supporting documentation and assist with investigation and resolution processes
- Escalate or refer matters as required in consultation with senior program staff
- Contribute to operational planning and support a professional collaborative team environment
- Delegate administrative tasks to support staff as required
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook)
- Minimum 6 months of direct experience working with Alberta child Care Grant Funding programs
- Minimum 6 months of experience using Government of Alberta systems specifically the Child Care Licensing Portal and the Child Care Information System (CCIS)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a comparable senior administrative or program support role with responsibilities aligned to grant administration program coordination or financial accountability
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally both written and verbal
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Mandatory Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Post-secondary education in Office Administration or a related field
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience engaging directly with business or government clients
- Minimum 2 years of experience in research analysis and problem-solving
- Minimum 3 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a role similar to this position
