Position: Health Aide

Salary Range: Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience

Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED. Requires First Aid and CPR certification.

Pre-Requisite: Active Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Reports to: Chief Academic Administrator (CAA)

Primary Purpose:

  • A K-12 health aideassists in providing basic health care services to students and includes administering first aid managing student health records and helping with routine health may also assist with medication administration notify parents of health concerns and maintain a clean and organized health office environment. While this job description is intended to be an accurate reflection of the job requirements management reserves the right to modify and assign duties as deemed necessary.

Specific Responsibilities:

    • Administers basic first aid for minor injuries and illnesses.
    • Responds to emergency situations performing CPR and administering prescribed medications as needed following established protocols.
    • Notifies parents school staff and emergency services as needed in cases of student illness injury or emergency.
    • Assists in conducting health screenings (e.g. vision hearing).
    • Monitors students for symptoms of illness or health conditions and reports to Dean of Instruction.
    • Takes and records vital signs like temperature.
    • Administers prescribed medications to students according to district policies and procedures under the supervision of qualified health personnel.
    • Maintains accurate logs of medications administered.
    • Maintains accurate and confidential student health records including immunization records visit logs and medication logs notifying parents of needed documentation.
    • State reporting of hearing vision and immunization for compliance with State requirements.
    • Compiles and prepares reports related to student health and health office activities.
    • Assists with collecting and organizing student health forms and documentation.
    • Communicate with parents school staff medical providers and the school nurse regarding student health needs and concerns.
    • Provides health information and resources to students parents and staff as needed.
    • Maintains the health office in a clean organized and well-stocked condition.
    • Inventories and orders supplies as needed.
    • May perform routine clerical duties like filing typing and answering phones.
  • All other duties & responsibilities assigned by the CAA.
  • The ability to handle emergencies and provide prompt medical care is crucial.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary for record management.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of student health information in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
  • Managing specialized health care procedures for students with specific medical needs such as diabetic care seizure or allergy management.
  • Participating in health education programs and promoting student wellness.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a health assistant or in a healthcare setting particularly with children.
  • Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
