The agency operates emergency shelters a crisis hotline supportive housing legal advocacy counseling and a community food pantry. Its mission focuses on safety healing and long-term stability for survivors and vulnerable community members.

About the Role
A community-based non-profit organization in the Tri-Valley area is seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Domestic Violence Services. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for domestic violence programs including shelter services crisis hotline supportive housing transitional housing and related legal/advocacy services.

The Director will oversee program operations facilities staff supervision contract compliance budgeting and community partnerships. This position reports directly to senior leadership and is part of the organizations management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and management of domestic violence programs including shelters hotline services supportive housing transitional programs and related wraparound services.
  • Oversee client screening eligibility and case management practices to ensure safe trauma-informed support.
  • Maintain and update program SOPs safety protocols intake materials policies and client information packets.
  • Ensure program compliance with legal safety and ethical mandates (including CPS reporting elder abuse mandates suicide risk assessment 5150 etc.).
  • Manage facilities to ensure safety cleanliness and a welcoming home-like environment.
  • Lead departmental staff meetings and maintain clear communication with organizational leadership.
  • Manage departmental budgets spending plans and grant-related financial reporting.
  • Oversee contract performance reporting data tracking and outcomes in collaboration with administrative staff.
  • Supervise train support evaluate and when necessary terminate program staff interns and trainees.
  • Handle client grievances and support crisis/problem-solving needs.
  • Represent the organization in community education advocacy training and partnership settings.
  • Participate in management team meetings staff meetings fundraising activities and special events as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a nonprofit setting; at least 2 years in residential program management preferred.
  • Experience supervising staff conducting evaluations and providing training.
  • Experience with planned spending of grant funds and preparation of grant reports.
  • Experience managing and monitoring departmental budgets.
  • Strong crisis management problem-solving and risk management skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook SharePoint and client database systems.
  • Must be able to work on-site daily.
  • Must have reliable insured transportation for work-related duties including transport of clients when needed.
  • Ability to pass required background and motor vehicle checks.
