Tubman is seeking a temporary Legal Advocate to join a collaborative team to support the agencys mission vision and values. This position will primarily provide services in Washington County.
The position would be 24-32 hours a week
This position is designed to ensure that agency clients including victims of interpersonal violence receive advocacy and support at criminal court hearings while also contributing to the legal services program outcomes and the mission of the agency. The Legal Advocate provides clients with information and support regarding the court processes safety planning and provides legal professionals input regarding domestic cases either with the client or on the clients behalf. This position will also assist in providing resources and referrals.
Legal Advocates often assist in mentoring volunteers and interns proprofessionalsviding advocacy services. This position also maintains professional partnerships with judges attorneys law enforcement and other legal/judicial court personnel.

Responsibilities
- Ensures that agency clients including victims of interpersonal violence receive advocacy and support at criminal and civil court hearings while also contributing to the legal services program outcomes and the mission of the agency
- Provides clients with information and support regarding the court processes safety planning
- Offers legal professionals input regarding domestic assault cases either with the client or on the clients behalf.
- Assists in writing and filing orders for protection and providing resources and referrals.
- Maintains professional partnerships with judges attorneys law enforcement and other legal/judicial court personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of direct services in programs related to legal services.
- Undergraduate degree or relevant work/life experience in a related field.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Own transportation and a valid drivers license and insurance.
- Must pass MN DHS Fingerprinting Background Study
Preferred Candidate
- Experience working with victims of interpersonal violence;
- Experience working in a non-profit;
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams
- Multilingual
