$22.23 - $31.68This position is responsible for various aspects of financial aid programs. This position exists to assist the Financial Aid Director in the overall operations of the financial aid office and is responsible for having extensive accurate knowledge of state and federal regulations and institutional policies and processes. This position serves as the primary contact for prospective/current students parents staff outside agencies and other educational institutions related to communication of financial policies and procedures. Reporting to the Financial Aid Director this position supervises two to three student workers.
Provide culturally responsive customer service to students staff and external stakeholders regarding Financial Aid information and questions and concerns.
Assist in Electronic Aid Processing
Process and maintain Student Financial Aid Documents and Data
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
The salary range for this position is $22.23 - $30.09 hourly.
Customer services skills are sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely thorough courteous respectful and professional manner in person over the phone and in writing.
Experience with interpreting data and ability to navigate systems such as Microsoft Suite Software programs and other forms of technology.
Ability to navigate complex networks of programs services and resources to compile diverse sources of information into answers for customers and to recommend and develop procedural changes.
Experience working with a diverse population including students identified as first generation historically disadvantaged non-traditional and/or underrepresented students
Two-year degree
One of more years of experience working in Financial Aid preferably in an urban community college.
Experience using ISRS and/or a department of education programs.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of private information according to law (FERPA ADA) rules policies and procedures.
Ability to deescalate upset or angry customers so that necessary information can be communicated or appropriate referrals made.
