Join VMIA as a Senior Systems Administrator and play a key role in supporting and evolving our Azure DevOps environment.

About the role

  • Responsible for IT service delivery and providing support to all VMIA users as well as contributing to the development and improvement of VMIA ICT infrastructure and operating environment.
  • Execute deep insight into IT Infrastructure and Operations processes and systems. You scan the external environment and use that insight to plan build and maintain VMIAs IT Infrastructure and Operations.
  • This is an exciting full time ongoing role and work collegially with the Manager IT Infrastructure to design develop and implement technology solutions. You provide expert knowledge and advice on IT Infrastructure and Operations Projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Accountable for implementing maintaining and supporting VMIAs IT Infrastructure and for the management to resolution of all major andescalated/priority/sensitive incidents and problems.
  • Monitor and action on the daily operations of the VMIAs IT infrastructure to ensure performance availability integrity and security via preventative and vulnerability management program
  • Prioritise assist and act on level 1 and level 2 escalated issue and assist with support and resolution where required. Provide expert level 3 support and resolution including back-end and high-end support expert level troubleshooting and analysis methods.
  • Record monitor and review systems performance and activities. Conduct root cause analysis of problems and research and recommend solutions to optimise the performance of the ICT infrastructure to support VMIA users and clients.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance of all VMIA IT systems with VMIAs policies procedures and guidelines.
  • Work closely with service providers for the maintenance and support of 3rd party hardware and software.

Who you work with

  • Work collegially with the Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations to design develop and implement technology solutions. You provide expert knowledge and advice on IT Infrastructure and Operations Projects.
  • Communicate and consult regularly with the team on their work and objectives to ensure our IT remains effective and to help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Actively understand VMIA employees IT needs and provide support services to enable them to meet their operational requirements.

What we are looking for

  • Excellent knowledge and experience with supporting Windows Operating Systems Microsoft Office 365 Intune Active Directory and third-party applications.
  • Proven hands-on experience in designing building and implementing Microsoft solutions based around Azure (Iaas and PaaS).
  • Exposure to Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines including supporting or contributing to automated builds configuration or release processes is desirable.
  • Experience with scripting or automation (preferably PowerShell) and a practical DevOps mindset focused on reliability efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to recognise analyse and effectively solve complex problems in a timely and organised manner using industry best practices.
  • The ability to prioritise and resolve service requests in an environment that is resource and time constrained with high demands for service quality technical expertise and results
  • Exposure to supporting corporate network including wired and wireless devices network switching firewalls (preferably Palo Alto) video conferencing with Microsoft Teams and remote access solutions.
  • Experience managing customer expectations and maintaining a high level of communication and customer satisfaction.
  • High level of verbal and written communications including demonstrated experience developing technical documentation and manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver continuous IT Infrastructure and Operations systems and processes improvements.
  • Proven ability to work successfully either independently or in a team environment provide advice prioritise activities undertake multiple tasks and consistently achieve outcomes within strict timelines..
  • Detailed understanding of IT operating models and service frameworks including the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Information Technology or Business.
  • Relevant IT accreditation or certifications. These could include MCP or CompTIA A (or experience demonstrating such knowledge). Microsoft Azure Administrator or Azure Solutions Architect certification is desirable.
  • Industry based accreditation such as IT.
