Minimum Qualifications:
Education: License and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in New York State.
Experience: At least one year of postâlicensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals with mental health conditions or developmental disabilities.
Certifications/Licenses: Active NYS RN license and registration (required). Additional behavioral health or psychiatric nursing training is a plus.

About the Role: The Registered Professional Nurse provides psychiatric and medical nursing services as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role includes conducting psychiatric and physical health assessments administering and managing medications providing health education coordinating care with physicians and other providers and delivering supportive and restorative interventions. The nurse plays a key role in treatment planning crisis intervention and promoting overall wellness for individuals receiving services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments addressing psychological physical social cultural and spiritual needs.
- Develop review and evaluate nursing intervention plans aligned with each clients treatment plan.
- Ensure nursing plans reflect cultural and linguistic considerations.
- Oversee implementation of nursing care and adjust plans as needed.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute nursing expertise to treatment planning.
- Coordinate nursing care with other clinical disciplines to ensure integrated service delivery.
- Provide guidance to staff on nursing standards procedures and best practices.
- Offer health education and counseling to clients and families.
- Participate in risk management and quality assurance activities.
- Conduct counseling sessions under appropriate clinical direction.
- Manage medical supplies equipment and medication processes.
- Provide emergency care and crisis intervention as needed.
- Monitor medication effects and side effects and document findings.
- Lead healthârelated groups and educational sessions on topics such as medication wellness coping skills and behavioral health.
- Serve as a mental health advocate in community activities.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
