A Customer Service Specialist is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLVS growing success!

This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill one (1) vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Utilities department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations The starting hourly pay for this position is $24.55. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
  • Work Schedule This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week 9 hours per day (36 hour work week) Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 6:00pm at our Utility and Traffic Operations Field Offices located at 2829 Ft. Sumter North Las Vegas NV 89030.

THE ROLE
Performs basic specialized duties in the billing call center collections and new customer units relating to City utilities; and performs other financial support duties.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Customer Service this role you will be responsible for providing exceptional support and assistance to our valued customers over the phone.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • One year of customer service work which included clerical and accounting or bookkeeping experience for a utility company or financial institution.
  • Six months of customer service experience working specifically in collections for a utility company or financial institution.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid Nevada drivers license and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the Citys application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume- The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
  3. Personnel File Review - Pass/Fail Minimum passing score is 75%- All current employees seeking internal positions will undergo a personnel file review. The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary/qualifying periods) and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.
  4. E-Skill examination (Weighted 50% Passing Score 70%) Test will measure grammar spelling math customer service and Microsoft office knowledge.
  5. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 50% Passing Score 70%).
  6. Pre-Employment Screening Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
  7. Selection/Offers!

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100% requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.

The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal ethical and professional standards.
