Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for a curious motivated Graduate Software Engineer who is ready to start their careers in a supportive purpose-driven environment. The position is based in Brisbane Australia as part of the Sequence Alliance.
The Sequence Alliance brings together four organisations Hitachi Rail the Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland Rail and the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority as One Team with One Goal: to digitally transform South East Queenslands (SEQ) rail network. This collaboration unites Queensland Rails 160 years of local experience and operational excellence with Hitachi Rails global expertise in rail and digital signaling solutions.
As a Graduate you will rotate through key areas of the Program gain hands-on experience and build strong foundations through structured learning mentoring and real project work. You will be trusted with meaningful responsibilities from day one while being supported by experienced leaders who are invested in your development.
During your program you will work on real projects that make a tangible impact collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders learn industry best practices through on the job learning and build technical professional and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Graduate Software Engineer you will develop foundational knowledge and hands-on experience insystems engineering
Prepare and maintain technical specifications drawings and configuration for software integration
Support in design development testing and maintenance assisting with fault investigation and resolution.
Assist with secure design aligning with cybersecurity policies standards and compliance expectations.
Ensure adherence to industry standards rail safety requirements and regulatory frameworks across software and systems engineering work.
Contribute to RAMS (Reliability Availability Maintainability and Safety) outputs and safety cases
Produce clear technical documentation designs test plans operating procedures and contribute to operational system training
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team - signalling telecoms electrical cyber and vendors - to deliver integrated solutions.
Buildstrongrelationshipswithclientssubcontractorsandteammembers within the project.
Work towards obtaining relevant QR and industry-related competencies.
Support project management activities and continuous improvement recommendations
Engage in structured rotations across building depth in rail software systems
Participate in structured graduate development programs including workshops mentoring technical training and site tours.
Actively engage in performance development upskilling and hands-on learning inreal operationalenvironments.
Skills and Experience:
Recent completion of a relevant degree (e.g. Mechanical Electrical Software or Systems Engineering).
Less than 2 years of experience
Be curious proactive and eager to learn about the railway industry
