An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiation Protection Specialist to join Rolls-Royce Submarines to support the delivery of our centralised radiological protection services.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office home or another remote location. Its a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum were all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

We are looking for an individual with the skills and experience to work in a team of radiation protection professionals providing a range of specialist services and technical advice in dosimetry instrumentation calibration and radiation protection training. The role will require acting as a subject matter expert in ionising radiation dosimetry and instrument selection and calibration while providing day to day technical support to multiple business units and programmes across Rolls-Royce Submarines.

We are interested in a range of backgrounds including Health Physicists or people with specialisms in dosimetry or instrumentation services (e.g. Qualified Persons). A training and development programme will be offered to the appointed candidate to address any gaps in their technical skills.

In this role you will be supporting delivery of:

  • Dosimetry services including internal and external dose assessment in nuclear and radiological facilities
  • Radiological instrumentation and calibration services to support our operations
  • Our new in-house training pathway for trainee Health Physicists

Essential:

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (i.e. physics engineering natural sciences mathematics etc.)
  • Radiation protection professional with minimum 4 years experience on nuclear / radiological sites
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of radiation protection topics such as dosimetry instrument selection calibration and training
  • Experience in delivering operational services (health physics dosimetry calibration etc.)

Desirable:

  • Specialist dosimetry knowledge and experience
  • Specialist instrumentation and calibration knowledge and experience (e.g. Qualified Persons)
  • Experience in design and delivery of radiation safety training

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individualswho are a UK national or in MoD approved cases a dual national.
