Under the general supervision of the Streets & Fleet Maintenance Superintendent you will be responsible for managing the Valley crew(Mendenhall valley and Out-the-Road service areas) planning and scheduling projects inspecting work and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This is a full-time salaried position that normally works Monday through Friday 6:30am 3:00pm but may be assigned an alternative schedule to meet seasonal operational needs with the expectation of work outside of these hours as needed.

DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The Streets Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team dedicated to maintaining and repairing CBJ roadways storm drainage systems and other street infrastructure. Under the general supervision of the Streets Superintendent youll ensure the safe timely and efficient upkeep of public streets by planning scheduling and inspecting maintenance this role you will supervise daily operations manage a crew and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
Education:
None
Experience:
Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience as a heavy equipment operator that includes at least two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience in construction or maintenance.
Other:
A valid Class A State of Alaska Commercial Drivers License valid for vehicles equipped with air brakes and a Tanker (N)endorsement at time of application and for continued employment.
Certification as a Traffic Control Supervisor with Flagger Instructor Training within 18 months of appointmentfor continued employment. Certification as an ATSSA Flagger (or equivalent) within 6 months of appointmentand for continued employment.
OSHA Requirements: This position may also require attendance at and certification (as available) in CPR First Aid and Confined Space Entrant and/or attendant within 18 months of appointment.
Special Note:*Initial appointment to all FMCSA positions requiring a CDL will be made conditionally pending (1) receipt of verified negative results of pre-employment testing for controlled substances and (2) passing a 3-year drug & alcohol testing background check with previous DOT employers. Employees must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse and provide CBJ with paper and electronic consent for a full query of the drivers Clearinghouse record. Employee will then be subject to the City and Boroughs drug-testing program.
