Job Summary

The NATO Model Event conducted by NATOs Allied Command Transformation (ACT) is an immersive simulation hosted by the Hertie Schools Centre for International Security. During this event selected students role-play as Permanent Representatives of NATO member states and engage in a simulated North Atlantic Council session. Guided by representatives from Allied Command Transformation students discuss and negotiate on critical security issues facing NATO ranging from regional challenges to the organisations global posture.

This initiative not only offers a unique insight into the inner workings of NATO but also serves as a platform for aspiring diplomats to hone their skills. Participants get an opportunity to:

  • engage in real-world diplomacy
  • build consensus among varying perspectives
  • receive actionable feedback and career guidance from NATO experts.

The event is part of a collaboration between the Centre for International Security and Allied Command Transformation aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding between NATO and the leaders of tomorrow.

The NATO Model Event will take place on Saturday 7 March 2026 at the Hertie School.

In the weeks leading up to the Model NATO event well host a preparatory session to help students prepare for the official event.

Please note: We plan to host a welcome mixer with NATO staff and students on the evening of Friday 6 March! Please block this date in your calendars. Applicants should plan to attend.



- 1st and 2nd year MIA Hertie School students. Preference will be given to students in the AoC international security.

- Only students that havent participated in previous simulations are eligible.

- Students need to be available on Saturday 7 March 2026.
