ROLE SUMMARY:

Kings College School Cascais (KCC) part of the Inspired Education Group is seeking an experienced and highly responsible Residential Primary Deputy Head of Boarding to join the leadership team for the KCC Summer Camp running from 24 June to 25 July 2025.

This is a senior residential leadership role reporting directly to the Summer Camp Director with responsibility for the pastoral care safety and wellbeing of boarding and day students throughout the camp. The role includes oversight of boarding routines health and first aid matters family communication staff supervision and operational organisation of arrivals departures and excursions.

The Residential Primary Deputy Head of Boarding works closely with the Camp Director and Boarding Coordinator to ensure all boarding safeguarding and welfare procedures are followed at all times and may act as Camp Director in the Directors absence. This is a residential position with accommodation meals and accident insurance provided on site. Working hours include evening late and overnight duties on a rota basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead pastoral care for boarding and day students ensuring wellbeing safety and appropriate behaviour.
  • Ensure all boarding and school procedures are followed including routines medication and night protocols.
  • Take responsibility for first aid and health matters with the Camp Director and nurse.
  • Act as emergency contact and respond to incidents fire or safeguarding concerns when required.
  • Communicate with families and manage sensitive welfare issues.
  • Oversee student records medical forms consent documentation and daily boarding logs.
  • Support staff supervision and contribute to duty rota planning.
  • Organise and supervise arrivals departures airport transfers and excursions.
  • Safeguard student valuables passports and pocket money.
  • Support evening activities final exhibitions and daily camp operations.
  • Attend coordination meetings training and safeguarding sessions.
  • Act as Camp Director when required in the Directors absence.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • English proficiency at Advanced or Proficiency level (C1C2).
  • Experience providing pastoral care and supervision for children in residential or camp environments.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage routines documentation and staff rotas.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations calmly and responsibly.
  • Experience communicating with families and handling sensitive wellbeing matters.
  • Ability to supervise staff and ensure consistent application of procedures.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate closely with senior camp leadership.
  • High standards of personal hygiene appearance and professional conduct.
  • Valid permission to work within the EU.
  • Ability to provide a criminal record certificate issued within the last 3 months.
  • CV with photograph scanned copies of degrees and certificates and two written references.
