About the role

Blip is looking for an experienced Head of Architecture to define and drive the architectural strategy across their platform and infrastructure landscape.

In this role you will lead the design and governance of scalable secure and resilient architectures that support some of the most complex initiatives across the organization. Working closely with engineering product and senior leadership you will translate strategic priorities into clear technical direction while ensuring architecture decisions accelerate delivery rather than slow it down.

You will play a key role in simplifying our technology landscape establishing clear standards and guardrails and fostering a strong architecture community that enables teams to build robust systems with confidence.

What youll actually be doing

• Define and drive the architecture strategy for Infrastructure & Platforms establishing clear standards guardrails and decision frameworks supported by Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).

• Lead solution design for complex cross-team initiatives ensuring architectures are scalable resilient and secure by design.

• Reduce technical complexity by promoting simplification reuse and disciplined technology lifecycle management.

• Partner with Product Engineering and senior stakeholders to translate strategic requirements into actionable technical plans and clear architectural decisions.

• Run architecture governance that supports fast delivery - enabling quick decisions clear rationale and lightweight processes.

• Identify and mitigate technical risks early ensuring systems meet expectations for reliability performance security and operational readiness.

• Build and nurture an architecture community of practice mentoring architects and senior engineers while raising engineering standards across teams.

• Influence platform and technology roadmaps by balancing innovation cost and risk in technology choices and long-term platform evolution.

• Establish practical architecture patterns and guardrails that engineering teams can easily adopt.

• Communicate architectural decisions effectively across audiences - from deep technical forums to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

What you bring to the table

• Extensive architecture experience across infrastructure hosting and platform domains including cloud and on-prem environments networking core services resilience and security.

• A proven track record leading architecture practices in fast-paced online or eCommerce environments with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

• Strong judgment in technology selection simplification and lifecycle management balancing standardization with pragmatic flexibility.

• Experience designing and governing large-scale complex initiatives spanning multiple teams and domains.

• Ability to identify technical risks early and guide teams toward effective mitigation strategies without introducing unnecessary process overhead.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical decisions into clear insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
