We are seeking an experienced enthusiastic and committed Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Portsmouth starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to teach pupils in their final year of primary education preparing them for secondary school while helping them consolidate their skills and achieve their full potential.

The Role
As a Year 6 Teacher you will plan deliver and assess engaging lessons across all subjects with a focus on English mathematics and science. You will use assessment data to track pupil progress identify learning gaps and provide targeted support. Developing independence resilience and positive learning behaviours will be central to your role.
You will work closely with teaching assistants phase colleagues and senior leaders to maintain high standards across Key Stage 2. Strong communication with parents and carers is also essential to support pupil progress.
Key Responsibilities
Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform planning
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL learners
Maintain a structured positive and inclusive classroom environment
Promote independence resilience and positive behaviour
Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Participate in staff meetings CPD and school improvement initiatives
Who Were Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching Key Stage 2 ideally Year 6
Be confident delivering the national curriculum
Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective proactive and adaptable
Show a clear commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
Early Career Teachers are welcome and will receive mentoring and guidance.
