Overview of role

This is a full-time role for a native-level English speaker. A full-time teaching role entails:

  • 20 teaching periods/week
  • 3 hours support to students/class cover
  • Time for PPA corrections collaborative work school events and meetings

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach IBDP Chemistry
  • Prepare students for iGCSE
  • Teach combined Science (Y7 Y8 or Y9)
  • Organise and manage classroom which promotes student-centred learning
  • Create and deliver original and engaging activities for students
  • Model and create an environment which fosters critical thinking
  • Support students in extracurricular activities (EPQ preparation for university entrance exams etc)
  • Provide meaningful assignments and constructive feedback to students
  • Write schemes of work and Year plan to ensure the curriculum is met and aligned with the schools standards
  • Work as a team
  • Fully understand what safeguarding in the UK entails and commit to applying the safeguarding procedures in place
  • Incorporate the mission and values of the school into the classroom
  • Maintain up-to-date records of assessment attendance planning reports and communication with families
  • Participate in parents-teachers meetings and class meetings
  • Participate in the School project and school events including Open Days

What we are looking for at LIL

  • QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant degree
  • At least 3 years of previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in IBDP or A-Level
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging activities for students with a provision for differentiation

  • Open mindedness to develop new educational approaches
  • Will to organise and get involved in school-wide events to promote science

About us

Lycée International Winston Churchill is an independent school in North London offering in the Secondary section two tracks: the French curriculum and the English International Programme which leads to the IB Diploma Programme in Y12 and Y13.

The school opened its doors in September 2015 and now welcomes nearly 700 students from Nursery class to Year 13. Located in the splendid Brent Town Hall the Lycée offers state-of-the-art facilities and learning tools.
