For upcoming automotive projects with a German end customer we are looking for an experienced Senior FMEA Expert / Moderator to support project teams on a situational part-time basis.
The role focuses on moderating and guiding FMEA activities according to the AIAG & VDA FMEA standard ensuring methodological correctness efficient workshops and high-quality results.
This is not a pure documentation role strong moderation and facilitation skills are essential.
Level: Senior
Location: Nearshore or Offshore
Workload: 412 hours/week
Start: February 2026
Duration: 3 months
Engagement: Freelance / Contract
Tasks
- Moderate Design and/or Process FMEAs according to the AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook
- Lead interdisciplinary FMEA workshops with engineering quality manufacturing and project teams
- Ensure structured progression through all FMEA steps (planning structure function failure analysis risk evaluation actions monitoring)
- Challenge and guide teams to identify relevant failure modes causes and effects
- Support proper risk prioritization and definition of effective mitigation actions
- Ensure consistent and correct use of Plato e1ns (Peak Avenue) for FMEA documentation
- Act as a methodological authority for FMEA within the project
- Support reviews audits and follow-up sessions as required
- Work closely with international teams in English; German-speaking environments may apply depending on project
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
- Senior-level experience (815 years) in FMEA within the automotive industry
- Proven experience as an FMEA Moderator (not only FMEA author)
- Strong knowledge of the AIAG & VDA FMEA methodology
- Hands-on experience with Plato e1ns (Peak Avenue) mandatory
- Excellent English skills (fluent written and spoken)
- Ability to work independently and guide senior stakeholders
- Experience working in distributed international project setups
Nice to Have
- Fluent German (spoken and written)
- Experience with OEM or Tier-1 automotive customers
- Background in complex systems (e.g. electronics mechatronics safety-relevant components)
- Experience supporting audits or customer reviews
