DescriptionI. Job Summary
The Accounting Analyst I will provide accounting and finance coverage for all WM Area Finance/Accounting teams and Corporate Finance/Accounting departments (i.e. finance accounting internal audit treasury). The analyst will be assigned to support projects and assignments across a variety of Finance functions.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs month-end close activities for assigned areas of responsibility including preparing journal entries for entry into the general ledger.
- Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; Prepares monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and adequately documents conclusions.
- Prepares basic financial reports in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines.
- Participates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports.
- Assists with the maintenance and application of internal controls. Executes internal controls responsibilities timely and accurately.
- Performs simple financial projects on an ad hoc basis.
- Monitors key financial performance measures.
III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (accredited) in Accounting Business Administration or similar area of study or in lieu of degree
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years or relevant work experience
- 1 year of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement)
