Tyler Union- Assistant Quality Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the plant Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and related compliance activities
• Support internal customer and third-party quality audits
• Lead investigations into non-conformances customer complaints and scrap using root cause methodologies (8D FMEA SPC)
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction process stability and quality at the source
• Oversee inspection activities including dimensional visual and metallurgical evaluations
• Support quality oversight of green sand molding melting and casting operations
• Utilize and interpret data from CMMs spectrometers hardness testing and other quality tools
• Partner with production engineering and maintenance teams to implement corrective and preventive actions
• Support supplier quality activities including incoming material inspection and vendor corrective actions
• Help train coach and develop quality personnel and hourly production teams
• Prepare and present quality metrics trends and reports to plant leadership

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Industrial Materials or Metallurgical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 7 years of quality experience in a foundry or heavy manufacturing environment
• 2-3 years in a supervisory/mentorship/leadership capacity
• Strong background in ductile iron casting and green sand molding preferred
• Solid understanding of metallurgical principles and casting defect analysis
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
• Experience with quality tools such as SPC FMEA 8D and root cause analysis
• Strong leadership communication and problem-solving skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing lifting up to 50 pounds balancing walking standing stooping and handling tools and materials.

Must wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes glasses gloves hearing protection and hard hats.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
