Job Summary
Overview
We are seeking a motivated CAD drafter in the Bridgeport CT area. This position requires knowledge of steel fabrication processes including CNC/plasma machinery welding fastening and tolerances. The CAD Drafter will ensure drawings are accurate practical and production-ready while supporting efficient safe and high-quality fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Develops detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Coordinates with and consults colleagues to design layout or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
- Computes mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
- Manipulates field measurements per customer and sales orders.
- Allocates materials to provide the highest yield utilizing remnants when available.
- Meets with the customer to create preliminary designs and presents them to the customer for approval or revision.
- Develops an understanding of multiple CAD systems to program various sets of machinery.
- Create products by cutting forming and joining metal materials in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Operate program or support fabrication equipment including CNC machines plasma cutters and other machinery.
- Attends weekly production meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Fabrication/manufacturing Experience.
- General knowledge of 2D/CAD/Draft Sight.
- Ability to correctly read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
- Communication and time management skills.
