Description of Work

This job is at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton North Carolina Burke County. This is a Closed Custody male facility.

Behavioral Health Case Managers provide necessary certified support to Behavioral Health missions in facilities statewide. The position requires that the prospective employee be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. This would allow the BH Case Manager to assist in facilitating movement and functionality of treatment programs/services. They also may carry a caseload of offenders who many require specialized case management skills due to mental illness substance use disorders and/or developmental disability.

The BH Case Manager will be supervised by an appropriately licensed BH clinician to ensure proper supervision per scope of practice requirements.
Duties include assisting in managing offender movement within and across facility areas to optimize the functionality and accessibility of treatment programs and services. This position may facilitate the delivery of behavioral health services ensure adherence to individualized treatment plans motivate offenders to actively participate and progress toward their treatment goals provide operational coordination and supervision of offenders during specialized treatment activities. They may develop coordinate and implement multidisciplinary treatment interventions focused on specific behaviors and medication adherence fostering a cohesive approach that enhances offender success and recovery. This position may monitor offender progress toward intervention goals administer program incentive systems support ongoing rehabilitation and behavioral improvement. Maintain clear and accurate verbal and written documentation within HERO and OPUS systems to ensure continuity of care and facilitate seamless communication among treatment team members

Salary Pay Range: $35984 - $62971

Management Preferences:

  • Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures of prisons.

  • Working knowledge of techniques of supportive counseling and interviewing.

  • Ability to gather and evaluate information concerning an individuals past experience training attitude social environment and mental capabilities.

  • Ability to develop implement coordinate and supervise a program within the framework of policies and procedures of Prisons.

  • Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associates degree in Criminal Justice Human Services Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution;

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety;

an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
