What Youll Do

The Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Environment Safety & Health (ES&H) Construction Senior Manager provides strategic leadership and is responsible for the development implementation and administration of comprehensive environmental protection health safety and radiation safety during construction of the Uranium Processing Facility Project. Reports directly to the ES&H Senior Director and matrixed to the UPF Project Director. Provides timely and effective ES&H decision making; provides data for and/or assists in establishing major ES&H objectives and policies; responsible for the support and development implementation and administration of comprehensive environmental protection health safety and radiation safety programs; oversees assessment of environmental health and safety risks throughout the organization. This position is responsible for assisting in resource planning budgeting assessing and implementing safety regulatory environmental policies and practices throughout the construction scope of the project as well as facilitating services provided in accordance with the UPF and CNS ES&H Interface Control Document. The employee will interface with senior leadership both within and external to the UPF Project CNS Enterprise Y-12 organization State and Federal regulators and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) representatives. The position serves a key role in teaming with these representatives seeking continuous improvement enabling the project to achieve excellence in ES&H.

The employees primary duties are ensuring CNS oversight of UPF ES&H requirements including working with the CNS subcontract technical representative to ensure subcontractor compliance and collaborating with UPF Project and NNSA customers. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the administration of the CNS ES&H program and additional duties include establishing monitoring and reporting safety performance metrics performing walk-downs of construction activities documenting observations and tracking action closure. The individual will support subcontractor incident investigations and reporting of incidents through the UPF Project and CNS chain of command. Managerial activities include recognizing and/or coaching individual safety performance as warranted; planning and apportioning work among ES&H team members. The employee customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more employees.

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelors degree: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
Minimum 5 years of relevant supervisory/ management experience.
Experience in ES&H management or construction management at various levels to include experience at leading/directing comprehensive environmental protection health safety and radiation safety programs and implementing a wide range of ES&H programs
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

Preferred Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in a technical and/or science and engineering related discipline combined with at least 10 years of related experience in multiple ES&H disciplines in a construction project environment preferred.
Master degree in relevant field.
Ability to interpret DOE requirements and plan for budget resources and documented level of success in directing ES&H programs at various levels of responsibility for a major construction site located adjacent to an active operating nuclear complex.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and proficiency as a team leader.
Must have highly developed organizational skills and demonstrated experience effectively working with multiple diverse organizations.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
