The D&R (Design & Release) Engineer is responsible to design develop validate and release parts under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs. The D&R is also responsible to look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization. The D&R engineer is responsible to design parts to comply with Corporate and Local Requirements for parts validation considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements) ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements. The engineer is also responsible for part incorporation at the Assembly Plant.
Responsible to design develop validate integrate and release components assigned to his/her responsibility such as different heat exchangers coolant hoses/pipes pumps valves radiator fans transmission oil cooler lines.
Lead Design and Release of Thermal Systems (Climate Systems / Cooling Systems) that meet or exceed Quality Cost Weight and Functional requirements
Develop robust commodity workplans to support program timing and deliverables as per GPDS disciplines.
Coordinate with interfacing activities such as PMT/ PAT Purchasing Engine Vehicle Engineering NVH HPUT Calibration STA and Body Engineering to drive compatible/optimal designs that meet QCWF targets
Good working knowledge of key Thermal System components- Condensers Compressors HVAC A/C Lines Cooling Fans Radiator Hoses Engine and Transmission Oil Coolers.
Lead and manage all DV testing
Manage design development through leadership of CPMT meetings design reviews drive for commonization meeting GPDS milestones and management of supplier(s)
Document design development and signoffs
Manage APQP/ PSW process to achieve a flawless launch
Lead issue resolution during launch. This includes providing onsite support for launches on as needed basis and supporting all launch meeting cadences. This includes co-ordinating meetings and design and release of key changes between the onsite launch teams suppliers and lead engineering activities.
Education Requirements:
Minimum: BSME BSEE or related degree
Additional Requirements (Preferred)
3 Years Prior Design & Release experience or working knowledge of D&R processes. Working knowledge of powertrain systems preferred
3 Years Proficiency in DFMEA PFMEA GDT G8D Digital Buck / CATIA APQP/PSW processes
3 Years Demonstrated ability to lead teams of engineers and designers
Good project management skills Use of MS Project
Strong problem solving skills G8D DMAIC
Excellent written and oral communication skills
