What Youll Do
An Explosive Safety & Hazards Analyst functions as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the development and maintenance of process hazards analysis (PHA). They perform duties and tasks that are vital to ensuring explosives operations are analyzed for explosives hazards and controls are identified for safe process implementation. Analysts assist with the development of documents utilizing the PHA process format and content per current PHA procedures and processes. Analysts implement scientific principles and hazards analysis to the evaluation of explosives operations against the Department of Energy (DOE) Explosives Safety Standard and other federal safety addition Explosives Safety & Hazards Analysts perform hazards and controls evaluations (HCEs) on explosives operations to supplement the maintenance of PHAs.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree with a minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- OR a Masters degree with a minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- OR a PhD

Preferred Job Requirements
- Degree in engineering science or related field
- Engineering/science job experience ranging from 3 to 7 years
- Prior knowledge/experience with explosives development explosives manufacturing processes explosives facilities / operating procedures explosives testing: analytical mechanical destructive and non-destructive
- Knowledge of and the ability to develop implement and maintain PHA documentation in accordance with 10 CFR 851 DOE-STDand applicable DOE Orders and Standards
- Ability to perform hazard and accident analysis and complete HCEs
- Ability to prepare PHA related documentation and maintain the documentation with rigorous change control
- Ability to exercise initiative independent judgment and discretion under limited supervision and implement change throughout Pantex
- Able to interact with organizations across the Nuclear Weapons Complex
- Able to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph pursuant to 10 CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
