Role Overview

Your role will be central to ensuring these students feel supported understood and capable of positive behavioural and emotional change. You will provide consistent guidance act as a trusted adult and work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to remove barriers to learning.
Purpose of the Behaviour Mentor Role
The purpose of this role is to support students in overcoming barriers to education caused by emotional or behavioural challenges. You will work proactively to prevent behavioural issues while also providing timely interventions when students require additional support.
The school uses a trauma-informed restorative approach to behaviour management recognising that challenging behaviour often signals unmet needs. Behaviour Mentors are integral in helping students understand and manage their emotions develop social skills and build resilience.
Your work will directly contribute to reducing exclusions improving engagement and promoting positive student outcomes both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
As a Behaviour Mentor in Langley your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 mentoring to students with emotional behavioural or social challenges
Delivering small group sessions focusing on emotional regulation social skills resilience and self-confidence
Supporting students in lessons to improve focus engagement and positive behaviour
Assisting students during transitions break times and lunch periods to promote safety and inclusion
De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally
Supporting students returning from fixed-term exclusions or extended absence
Assisting with the development and implementation of behaviour support plans and interventions
Working closely with teaching staff SENCOs pastoral teams and senior leaders to coordinate support
Monitoring progress maintaining records and reporting outcomes to pastoral leaders
Promoting restorative practices and reflection to encourage long-term behavioural change
Ensuring adherence to safeguarding policies and maintaining professional boundaries

Previous Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant experience
